Danube Bend (Visegrád – Esztergom – Párkány, Slovakia)
Departure is at 9:00 after breakfast – a full-day excursion.
During this excursion we will visit the Danube bend famous for its beauty, and we will venture in the footsteps of Hungarian kings. The Visegrád Palace and the ruins of the castle take you into a whirlwind of history. After enjoying lunch we will drive along the Danube embankment road, which will lead us towards the first capital of Hungary, Esztergom. Saint Stephen, the founder of the state and the first king to bring Christianity to his kingdom was baptized and crowned here. Today the country’s largest church is located on Coronation Hill, which is the center of Hungarian religious life. After visiting the church we walk across the bridge to the other side of the river to Slovakia, Párkány (Šturovo), which is located just opposite Esztergom.
